The interlaced micro-channel heat exchanger (iMCHE) integrates multiple circuits from a chiller or rooftop HVAC unit into a single coil with a shared heat transfer area while controlling each circuit independently.
Dual-circuit rooftop units usually have two refrigerant circuits, but iMCHE turns off one circuit under part-load conditions while still using the whole air-side heat transfer area for maximum efficiency. It can increase the IEER efficiency rating of a system by nearly 20%. This lets existing systems meet stricter future energy standards with minimal redesign costs.
