Are You Ready for BOMA 2024?

July 10, 2024
The BOMA International Conference & Expo kicks off in Philadelphia on July 13. Here’s what you need to know before you go.

Often referred to as the City of Brotherly Love or the Birthplace of America, Philadelphia is home to rich history, from Independence Hall to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art, immortalized in Rocky. It’s also the place where property professionals will come together to learn actionable tips, see cutting-edge products and network when the 2024 BOMA International Conference & Expo arrives on July 13.

Our guide to the show explores the next-level education, innovative vendors and inspiring speakers you can expect from the 2024 BOMA conference.

Explore Education

The 2024 BOMA conference presents attendees with a can’t-miss opportunity to learn from the industry’s best and brightest. Choose one of seven education tracks or put together your own program to bolster your industry knowledge. The 2024 slate of speakers offers plenty of options, including:

Expo Excitement

The expo portion of the show will feature vendors ready to help you innovate in your buildings. Learn how to incorporate amenities that can boost your tenant retention, sustainability efforts and bottom line, from urban farms to green walls.

Consider checking out the floor map or exhibitor listing beforehand and taking notes about must-see vendors. There are so many exhibitors on the floor that it can be easy to overcommit; going in with a game plan can keep you on track and help ensure you see who you want to see.

Get Empowered with Morning Keynotes

BOMA 2024 will host two keynote speakers who are sure to inspire. Celebrated radio host, TV personality and bestselling author Michael Smerconish will deliver Sunday’s keynote, sponsored by BuildingEngines, which promises solutions for overcoming political polarization and finding greater understanding and cooperation among one another. Property professionals have an individual and collective role to play in bringing society together, and you’ll learn all about it on Sunday.

On Tuesday, check out the always-anticipated State of the Industry address by BOMA International President and Chief Operating Officer Henry Chamberlain and Senior Vice President Mary Lue Peck. They’ll discuss what’s happening in the commercial real estate industry, including how this time of disruption will affect CRE over the long term. (Check out the Buildings Podcast for a sneak peek at the address.) Then, you’ll hear from Dr. Amy Cuddy, whose presentation “Moving Forward in the Flux Era: How to Lead with Confidence and Be More Influential” (sponsored by Yardi) will energize attendees to thrive in tumultuous times.

The BOMA International TOBY Awards: CRE’s Biggest Honor

The winners of The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards will be announced Tuesday night at the annual TOBY Awards Gala. Sponsored by The Home Depot Pro, these prestigious awards are bestowed on buildings with a proven commitment to high performance and excellence in operations, from community involvement and site management to environmental policies and procedures. Seventeen categories will honor winners, including the five size-based office building categories.

Incoming 2024-2025 chair Manuel Moreno will be inducted at the award gala. Check out our interview with him to learn his goals for BOMA International—plus, hear his career advice for CRE professionals.
