Kirei’s Air Baffle is a collaboration with Nike Grind, a global sustainability program helping transform manufacturing scrap and end-of-life shoes into recycled Nike Grind Materials. The Air Baffle gives new life to old shoes while improving the wellbeing of building occupants through better acoustics. It’s inspired by the clean, modern lines of the Nike Air Max and combines the acoustic performance of recycled PET felt with a soft filling made from Nike Grind.
The baffles suspend vertically from the ceiling and help break up sound reverberation and assist in noise mitigation. The exterior is made from EchoPanel, a low-VOC, Red List Free material that diverts 235 single-use plastic bottles from landfills and waterways with each panel.
