The Linux-based, standalone Network Video Recorders (NVR) include auto port forwarding for routers with UPnP function and Dynamic Domain Name Server (DDNS) support.
To support and provide a DDNS, a free, specific domain name is offered for each device, eliminating the need to remember complicated IP addresses.
The recorders support a variety of browsers and Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) enables users to dial up directly via ADSL to connect with the Internet. Users can forego the expense for an extra connection device between the black box and surveillance recorder because there is no need to purchase a router.
