Metalmark introduces its Sierra Smoke Safe Filters, a MERV 13 filter tested and proven to deliver highly effective wildfire smoke removal. Wildfire smoke particles are roughly 300 times smaller than a strand of hair and 10 times smaller than particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5), making them hard to filter out with conventional MERV 13 filters and posing substantial health risks. Sierra’s filtration efficiency was independently tested; the filter demonstrated over 60% efficiency in filtering smoke particles, higher than other commercially available HVAC filter media, which may lose its effectiveness over a few hours.
Sierra is also rated as a MERV 13 filter for general use and can be used as a drop-in replacement for existing MERV 13 filters to maintain airflow and pressure. Bio-inspired materials and robust construction ensure a longer period of performance and reduce maintenance costs and downtime.
