These Shades Generate Their Own Zero Emission Energy

This advanced shading system combines MechoShade Systems’ commercial shade designs with printed solar semiconductors by ORENgE. The result: a sleek design that generates zero-emission energy to power itself and other devices while reducing indoor temperatures and electricity consumption. No wires are required to power the shade; the printed semiconductors convert visible and infrared light to power the shade.

Each shade produces up to 100W of power, enough for itself plus other small devices. Excess power can be used for other devices via ethernet. The shades block up to 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting interiors from sun damage, and absorb infrared light to lower solar heat gain by up to 72%. The shades can be used in new construction or retrofit applications and have minimal infrastructure requirements. The system supports shades up to 30 by 72 inches.
