The inaugural U.S. Green Building Council Smart Building Summit will take place May 11–12. Hosted by the USGBC Northern California and USGBC Orange County communities, the virtual event is open to all USGBC members as well as the general public. The organizers hope the event will “bring together diverse players around optimization, interoperability, and workforce development, among other topics.” Attendees can earn continuing education credits issued by Green Building Certification Inc. and the American Institute of Architects.
Along with a series of panels and breakout sessions with industry leaders, the summit will feature keynotes by Mary Ann Piette, senior scientist and director of the Building Technology and Urban Systems Division, Energy Technologies Area, at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Jigar Shah, director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office; and Saul Griffith, inventor, author, entrepreneur, MacArthur Fellow, and futurist.
On May 12, Switch Automation chief of peopIe, culture, and impact Patti Mason and I will be co-hosting an interactive breakout conversation with the audience and panelists from the preceding session, "State of the Art AI & Machine Learning in Buildings." Following our conversation will be the closing keynote by Griffith.
